  FAQ

How much do lessons cost?

Group lesson fees are $60 per session (3 sessions make-up a full season). Specialty classes are available for advanced skaters and cost $50 per session. Private and Semi-Private lessons are available as well.

What if I cannot afford the costs?

A limited number of scholarships are available to eligible families. Click here for more information.

What should my child wear for class?

Skaters should dress for a cold arena but still have the ability to move freely. Younger skaters often wear snow pants, coats, gloves and hats - helmets for snow plow classes are preferred. Older skaters typically wear warm leggings/joggers with sweatshirts, gloves and hats.

How do I know which level to sign my child up for?

New skaters will be assigned to Snowplow Sam 1, however, our head coach will hold testing prior to the start of classes so that skaters can be tested and place at the correct level. Returning skaters will be allowed to register for the level they have tested to the prior year.

When do lessons start?

Lessons start on October 15, 2024 and are held at the Windom Arena.

How do I register?

Pre-registration is required for lessons no later than October 13th. To register, click Register Now! and follow the prompts to sign up for a new account.

Are your teachers qualified?

The Professional Staff or Adult Coaches have years of coaching experience.  The coaches are certified in SafeSport, take the Learn to Skate Instructor Certification Course, and pass a background check. Our student coaches also take the Learn to Skate Certification Course

When are lessons held?

30 Minute lessons are held weekly on Tuesdays - class schedules are sent out prior to the first week. Our youngest skaters usually start first at 5:00 and we progress by age/level until lessons wrap up by 9:00 PM

Can parents watch?

Parents may watch from the arena bleachers, but are asked to let the coaches take care of the lessons and that parents refrain from interaction with the kids unless children need help getting off the ice to use the restroom or if they have simply had enough for the day and need to leave. After lessons, coaches and staff are not available to assist children with removing skates or care for them, so please be prompt in picking your child up at the end of their lesson time.

What is your ratio of children to coaches?

Group lessons will have at least 1 coach per 10 children - the ratio is 2:10 for our younger levels.
